St. John's Mini-Putt and Kalua Pig Sale Fundraisers

The last weekend in November 2021 was a particularly busy (and fun!) weekend for St. John's By-the-Sea Church, as we had both a Kalua Pork sale and a Mini-Putt Golf Tournament at Bayview course in Kane'ohe. Mahalo nui to all those who made the imu and cooked and packaged up the 'onolicious pork, and congratulations to all who organized and participated in the sometime-hilarious goings-on at the golf course! And of course, thanks as well to everyone who contributed financially to these two successful fundraisers, in support of St. John's ongoing mission.

Blessing and Groundbreaking for the Youngs' New Home!

Lloyd Young has been waiting 52 years for a Hawaiian Homestead lease, and he finally received it! Hats off to his wife Enid who slogged through the paperwork to finally get the lease and loan application signed. Financing for the homestead came through the Veterans Administration because Lloyd is a Navy veteran. The home will be built by Habitat for Humanity, and military servicemen will be donating their time in honor of helping out a fellow veteran. In gratitude for the many years that the Youngs have served as caretakers of our church property, members of Saint John's By-the-Sea will be making lunches to feed the construction workers as they build the home.

As of Sunday May 23, 2021, St. John's By-the-Sea Church resumed in-person Eucharistic services. We followed the Episcopal Diocese of Hawaii guidelines (updated May 28, 2021), which still required masks and social distancing for indoor worship. But given the surge in COVID-19 cases, we returned to online worship as of August 22, 2021.
